Summary 內容: #1 Talk

Body donation was little known even just ten years ago in Hong Kong. But a recent survey led by the HKU Body Donation Programme showed that over 80% of the people in Hong Kong have heard of body donation, and, among those who have heard of it, over 50% of the respondents said they are willing to consider donating their bodies after they pass away. But exactly what and how these donated bodies contribute to medical and health sciences education is less well known.

In this talk, Dr. Chan will outline what we have learned from these donated bodies: anatomy, medical and health professionalism, and reflections on life and death. The influence of these great, altruistic individuals are immense and have spread beyond medicine, thus forming a bridge between the medical community and the public. These individuals therefore truly deserve to be called the Great Body Teachers (大體老師).
