Under the project “HK20+1”, this documentary mentorship programme encourages students to document the current Hong Kong. The programme will connect aspiring students with local documentary filmmakers. Together they will spend three months to exchange ideas and views, and finally to produce a short documentary. A production subsidy of HK$5,000 will be provided to each group on reimbursement basis. Their works will be screened at HKU in March 2018.
This programme is selected as one of the Impact Projects in the Knowledge Exchange (KE) Funding Scheme 2017/18.

*This programme offers both structure and flexibility. While mentors and mentees are given the discretion to decide on the mentorship arrangements and meetings, the mentees are encouraged to take the initiative and meet their mentor at least four times throughout the period, so that the objectives of the programme can be fulfilled.

Deposit: HK$200
Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, HK$200 deposit will be refunded by autopay to the student’s bank account registered with the University.
Completion of the programme requires:
  • Full commitment and full attendance in the following:
    • Meeting with the mentor at least four times during the mentorship period from Dec 2017 to Mar 2018
    • Submission of a short documentary on or before 15 Mar 2018 (Thu)
    • Attending the screening in Mar 2018
  • Maintaining a high standard of self-discipline and mutual support with other members of the programme
Production Subsidy: HK$5,000
The 10 successful students will be divided into two teams of five members. Each team is required to produce a short documentary about the current Hong Kong under the guidance of its mentor, and submit it on or before 15 Mar 2018 (Thu).
A production subsidy of HK$5,000 will be provided to each team on reimbursement basis with valid receipts after the submission of a short documentary.

To enrol, students should complete and submit the enrolment form by 5 pm, 27 Nov 2017 (Mon). You are required to include the proposal in your application. Please refer to the proposal guidelines.

Applicants may be required to attend an interview during the week of 27 Nov 2017.
Successful candidates will be notified by email on or before 4 Dec 2017 (Mon), and have to pay the deposit HK$200 (in cash) to GE Office by 5 pm, 8 Dec 2017 (Fri).
Bio of Speaker(s) 講者簡介: Jessey Tsang (曾翠珊)
2012香港電影金像獎最佳新晉導演。曾翠珊2001年畢業於香港演藝學院電影電視系, 2005年完成香港城市大學創意媒體學院碩士課程, 曾創作多部不同風格的電影及錄像作品, 曾氏作品多以人文關懷視點出發, 2008年完成首部長片《戀人路上》,被台灣南方影展評為「最佳劇情影片」。2011完成第二部長片《大藍湖》,影片獲各界贊譽,獎項包括第十五屆上海國際電影節亞洲新人獎「評委會特別獎」及獲選為香港電影評論學會2011年度推薦電影。2014 年完成紀錄長片《河上變村》,同時完成中韓愛情電影《香氣》,影片在2014 年於中國大陸和日本院線公映。近年曾氏積極參與環保及弱勢社區相關的影片製作,2016 年獲得FilmAid Asia頒發人道主義大獎。

Wong Siu Pong (黃肇邦)
1986年生於香港,畢業於香港樹仁大學新聞與傳播學系。2011年獲得 CNEX 基金會(CNEX HK)資助拍攝首部紀錄長片《子非魚 Fish Story》,獲香港亞洲電影節「亞洲新導演獎」提名及FIRST青年電影展「最佳紀錄片獎」等獎項。2014年憑紀錄短片《延長線》代表香港參加第十四屆威尼斯國際建築雙年展。最新紀錄長片《伴生 Snuggle》繼續叱咜國際影展,並寫下本土紀錄片在香港院線上映一周年的紀錄。
