Summary 內容: The talk will focus on the potential of humanist photography to trigger an emotional response from the readers to their own aspirations. It will confine our vision to the capture of a ‘decisive moment’ in the eyes of two grand master photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau, the former looking for an orderly pattern out of chaos, while the latter humbly captures the charm of the individual.

Bio of Speaker(s) 講者簡介: Following his retirement from teaching Economics at HKU in 2006, Dr. Joe Tyel Chen ventured into the art of humanist photography and earned a number of prizes given by Black and White Magazine and at the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards. He was also a nominee for the HCB Prize awarded by the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation. He has held solo exhibitions at Hong Kong’s Harbour City as well as at The Chinese Culture University of Taipei. In addition, Dr. Chan has engaged in two public lectures on humanist photography, one in the Central Library of Hong Kong and the other in The Cultural University of Taipei.
